How to Play Fishing Games

In a fishing game you aim a cannon at targets moving across an underwater scene. Every shot costs your selected bet; when a shot captures a target, you win that target's stated multiple of your bet. Whether a shot captures a target is decided by the game's random number generator.

Step by step

  1. Choose a room or table. Rooms usually differ by minimum and maximum bet level.
  2. Set your bet level. This is the cost of every shot. Many games show it as a cannon power or level.
  3. Aim. Move the cannon towards a target.
  4. Fire. Each shot deducts your bet from your balance, whether it hits or not.
  5. Capture. If the game determines that a hit captures the target, you receive the target's multiplier times your bet.
  6. Repeat or stop. Keep an eye on your balance, not only on captures.

Targets and values

Each target shows or has a listed multiplier in the paytable. In most fishing games:

  • Small, common targets have low multipliers and are captured more easily.
  • Large or rare targets, including "boss" targets, have high multipliers and usually a lower chance of capture per shot.
  • Several hits on a large target do not build up a guaranteed capture unless the game's rules explicitly say so.

Special weapons and features

Features vary between games. Common examples include lock-on targeting, area-effect weapons that can hit several targets, chain effects and bonus stages. Some features cost extra or change the bet per shot. The game's help screen explains what each one does and costs.

In multiplayer rooms, several players shoot at the same scene. Read the rules to understand how shared targets are handled.

Beginner considerations

  • Watch the cost of auto-fire. Continuous firing can spend a balance very quickly.
  • Start at the lowest bet level while you learn the controls and targets.
  • Check the game's RTP in its information screen where shown. Like slot RTP, it is a long-term theoretical figure.
  • Aim is not a strategy for profit. Captures are decided by the game's RNG and maths, so skill cannot overcome the house edge.
  • Set a spending limit before you start, and stop when you reach it.
